UNC makes major move toward digital humanities
The Digital Innovation Lab launched last year has spawned an even bigger and more exciting institutional innovation: the Carolina Digital Humanities Initiative, announced this summer.
The initiative is far-reaching, with funding opportunities and faculty and grad student positions coming in the future. See http://digitalinnovation.unc.edu/cdhi/ for more detail.
A funding opportunity already in play is the joint DIL/IAH Fellowship program. DIL and CDHI co-director Bobby Allen says they would welcome proposals from faculty interested in HGIS. Note the August 30 information session, and the recommendation that applicants meet with Bobby Allen, Richard Marciano, and Pam Lach individually.
Bobby further says that “Planning for the other programmatic expressions of the CDHI is under way, with full implementation beginning in 2013-14. We will certainly keep the HGIS folks posted and seek your input.”
